As Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager at Summit Capital, a globally focused, multi-strategy investment firm located in Seattle, Washington, Rob spends most of his time scouring the globe for investment opportunities, connecting with and funding fellow entrepreneurs and investment managers seeking to build and support long term sustainable businesses in growth markets.
In tandem with his broader duties at Summit, Rob manages the private markets investment program at the firm. Summit has deployed capital to over fifty companies and firms operating within industries ranging from specialty finance, clean technology, agriculture, digital media and real estate as well as to broader middle market businesses globally. Rob serves on the board of Lighter Capital and Meritage Soups as well as the advisory board of various other Northwest based companies.
A former securities analyst covering the digital media industry, Rob started his career in 1995 at Friedman, Billings, Ramsey, an Arlington, Virginia based investment bank and institutional brokerage firm. In 2002 Rob co-founded Martin Investment Group (MIG), a predecessor company which merged with Summit Capital in 2006. Rob holds a BA in Political Science from Temple University and an MBA in Finance and Investments from George Washington University.
David Martin Partner
As Partner at Summit Capital, Dave is responsible for business development and managing Summitís high net worth client relationships. Drawing on 20 years of experience, Dave prides himself on providing the highest level of service and investment advice to our clients. Additionally, Dave leads all strategic business development efforts for Summit, acting as a central point of contact in building social capital throughout Summit's network of friends and clients.
Dave began his career in the financial services industry in 1994, spending his early years in Private Client Services at Wachovia, Salomon Smith Barney, and UBS (PaineWebber). In 2002, Dave co-founded Martin Investment Group (MIG), a predecessor company which merged with Summit Capital in 2006.
Dave is a board member for the Gleason Initiative Foundation, an organization that helps provide technology, equipment and services to individuals with muscular diseases and raises public awareness toward ALS. Dave received his BA in Accounting from Gonzaga University in 1994 and holds the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 7, 9, 10, 63 and 65 licenses. Dave lives in the Spokane area with his wife and two children. Dave is an avid golfer, runner, and skier. Matthew Rudolf Partner
As Partner and Portfolio Manager at Summit Capital, Matt supervises the investment team responsible for research, allocation, and trading decisions of the firmís public market strategies. Matt diligently scans the marketplace for new investment ideas across the capital markets spectrum, drawing on his years of experience as a corporate banker to gain insight into a companyís performance and financial stability.
Prior to joining Summit Capital in 1997, Matt was a Vice President with U.S. Bank of Washington and managed the Large Corporate Lending Group for West One Bank of Washington before its merger with U.S. Bank. Preceding his transition into corporate banking Matt spent five years as a Petroleum Engineer for Occidental Petroleum Corporation in Texas.
Matt received an MBA from Seattle University in 1988 and a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Washington in 1979. Matt also holds the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 65 designation. As a passionate outdoorsman, Matt serves on the Western Regional Board for the National Parks Conservation Association. He and his wife are longtime residents of the Seattle area.
Kevin Glynn Portfolio Manager
As Portfolio Manager at Summit Capital, Kevin manages our tactical asset allocation strategy comprised primarily of ETFs and mutual funds, a strategy he developed in 2002. Having joined Summit in October 2013, Kevin draws on his nearly 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, most recently with Glynn Portfolio Management LLC, which he founded in 2009.
Prior to his years with Glynn Portfolio Management, Kevin built his experience within asset management groups including Citigroup, D.A. Davidson and Key Investments. Kevin received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Gonzaga University in 1984 and holds the FINRA series 65. Kevin is on the Ironman Coeur díAlene Community Fund Committee. He lives in Liberty Lake with his wife and two daughters. Kevin keeps active competing in Triathlons and is an avid skier. Lisa Burke Chief Compliance Officer and Client Services Director
As Chief Compliance Officer and Client Services Director, Lisa is responsible for all compliance and operational matters for both our separately managed accounts as well as our private limited partnership. This role encompasses the development, implementation and monitoring of the firmís compliance program, internal policies and procedures and supervision of Client Services. Lisa is also a part of the Executive Team at Summit Capital, providing support and guidance to aid in achieving the long term goals of the firm.
Lisa began her career in the financial industry in 1989 working with a local financial planning firm followed by 11 years in Operations and Client Service at UBS (formerly PaineWebber). In 2003 she joined Martin Investment Group (MIG), a predecessor company which merged with Summit Capital in 2006. She received her BA in Economics from Gonzaga University in 2001 and holds the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 7 and 63 licenses. Lisa lives in Spokane with her husband and daughter. When she isnít following the activities of her daughter, Lisa enjoys cooking, traveling, exercise and biking. As Chief Financial Officer for Summit Capital, Al works closely with Managing Partner Rob Martin on all aspects of the day to day management of the firm.
Prior to joining Summit in 2013, Al founded Engineered Control Systems Inc.(ECS), a security electronic solution for detention facilities, in 1992. After building the company for 18 years he sold ECS to The Gores Group in 2010. In the early part of Alís career he was Vice President of Administration at Keytronic Corp. and spent 8 years in public accounting with Price Waterhouse. Al received his BBA in accounting from Gonzaga University in 1972 and is a CPA. Al and his wife live in Spokane.Andrew Bloom Investment Strategy Director - Public Markets
As Investment Strategy Director, Andy provides debt and equity research, manages portfolio construction and asset allocation, and engages in analysis and risk management for Summitís public market strategies. In addition, he supervises the trade order management process as well as client reporting, while additionally providing support for client reviews and business development efforts.
Prior to joining Summit Capital in 2008, Andy spent three years in the Internal Audit Department with Weyerhaeuser. Andy received his BA in Accounting from Seattle University in 2005 where he played basketball for the Redhawks. Andy holds the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 65 license and is currently a Level 2 CFA candidate. A native of Spokane, Andy and his wife now live in Seattle. In addition to basketball, Andy enjoys running and playing golf.
Benjamin Freeburg Investment Strategy Director - Private Markets
As Investment Strategy Director, Ben conducts research and due diligence across all asset classes, inclusive of real assets, commodities, private equity and other alternative investments. He assists in origination, research and structuring for co-investment transactions and monitors indirect manager allocations and direct investments for the firmís private markets strategies. Additionally, Ben manages Summitís third party administrator and audit relationships to ensure accurate and timely reporting. Ben also serves on the Executive Team at Summit Capital providing guidance and support to the firm in achieving our long term objectives.
Prior to joining Summit Capital in 2010, Ben spent five years at BlackRock, Inc. (formerly Quellos Capital Management). While at BlackRock, Ben managed the foreign currency hedging and portable alpha swap programs associated with BlackRock's hedge fund of funds. Ben received his BBA in Finance from Gonzaga University in 2001 and his MBA from the University of Notre Dame graduating magna cum laude in 2010. Ben is a global adventurer, having traveled to five continents, while additionally spending time climbing, running, and golfing back here in Seattle. In tandem with supporting business development efforts at Summit, Andyís primary focus is assessing our clientís complex financial situations and providing recommendations that are aligned with the clientís goals, needs and objectives. His in depth knowledge of and experience with the investment management side of Summit has given him the ability to craft all-encompassing solutions for a multitude of potential client situations.
Before transitioning to Client Service and Business Development, Andy spent five years at Summit assisting in equity research, trading and risk management for Summitís private and public market strategies. Prior to joining Summit in 2008, Andy was a research intern with DePrince, Race, & Zollo, Inc. where he researched stocks in the firm's small-cap and micro-cap portfolios.
Andy received his BA in Economics from Willamette University in 2005 and his MBA with a concentration in Finance and Investments, graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Notre Dame in 2008. Andy is also the President of the Seattle Security Traders Association. Andy is an avid sportsman, playing basketball, softball, tennis and golf. Originally from Kalispell, Montana, Andy now lives in Seattle.
Andrew Pohl Investment and Operations Associate
As an Investment and Operations Associate for Summit Capital, Andrew performs general research for the public markets investment team. Summitís research process includes reading through company SEC filings, keeping up on company news, establishing valuations and projections, and meeting with company management and analysts. In addition to research, Andrew assists with trading, order input/allocation, administration, and risk management of Summitís public market strategies.
Prior to joining Summit Capital in 2011, Andrew was a Fund Accountant at J.P. Morgan in New York where he reconciled and accounted for daily cash flows and helped prepare financial statements for the general partners of two multi-billion dollar private equity funds. Andrew graduated magna cum laude from Linfield College with a BA in Finance and Vocal Performance/Music, and has completed level III of the CFA program. Andrew is an accomplished musician, playing both the guitar and piano in addition to singing in his free time. While originally from Bremerton, Andrew currently resides in Seattle.
Gerard Figurelli Trader
As Summit Capitalís primary Trader, Gerard is responsible for vigilantly monitoring the securities in the firmís portfolios as well as executing trade orders given by one of the portfolio managers. In addition to trading, order entry, and allocation, Gerard ensures that the investment team is kept up to speed on breaking news and company developments.
Prior to joining Summit in 2013, Gerard was a Portfolio Accountant Intern for the Special Operations team at Parametric Portfolio Associates where he focused on reconciling derivative positions, specializing in options, currency forwards, and commodity futures. He was also an active member of the HT Student Investment fund at UW, where he led the financial equity analysis team. Gerard received his BA in Finance from the University of Washington in June, 2013. A Seattle native, Gerard stays active with many activities including softball, baseball, and coaching.
Katie Lewis Client Service Associate
As a Client Service Associate, Katie provides client service across the entire Summit platform inclusive of opening and closing accounts, addressing all operational and administrative client requests and serving as the primary support person in the Spokane office. In addition to client service, Katie provides administrative support to our business development team and directly supports Summitís Chief Compliance Officer.
Prior to joining Summit Capital in 2013, Katie was a Client Service Manager for Key Bank where she focused on developing and implementing processes and systems for day-to-day operations with an emphasis on regulatory and compliance adherence. Katie comes to Summit with 6 years of operations and client service experience. She lives in Spokane and enjoys exercising, outdoor activities and volunteer work in her free time.
